Chapter Thirty-Five

“I know you are big, but Thorn, where do you store it all?” Bothy whispered as he stared wide-eyed at the food vanishing from Thorn’s side of the table.

The Earl of Scorchfrost was not the only one who was staring in astonishment at Thorn as he ate food as fast as the Elven servers could bring it out. A line of Elves had formed running from the kitchen to the tables at the front of the hall where Thorn and Bothy sat together, each carrying a tray of food. Occasionally one would peel off to go to another table, but the majority of them placed the food that they carried on the long table in front of Thorn and picked up the plates and dishes that he had already emptied.

Giving Bothy a slight smile, Thorn’s hands did not stop moving. With one hand he set his plate on a growing stack of empty dishes and with the other he pulled the dish that had just been set down in front of him. “Wonderful, thank you.”

Pushing the dish to the edge of the table to make room for the basket of biscuits that had just been delivered, Thorn looked over at Bothy.

“These biscuits are pretty good. I had some earlier. Do you want to try them? They come with six different types of jam. Well, that one is a jelly and that one is more of a sauce, but you understand. I really like the honey and orange one. It's sort of like an orange marmalade without the rough texture. But sweeter.”

“Uh, sure.”

Passing a couple of the biscuits over to Bothy, Thorn put the rest on his plate and covered them liberally with the variety of spreads that the servers had brought. Tossing a whole biscuit into his mouth, he chewed slowly, savoring the flavor as he looked around the large hall. Many of the other guild leaders who had been invited to the banquet were using the time to socialize instead of eat, doing their best to seize the chance to get to know the nobles of Thilvena. Typically, players would have no chance to meet the
